NFL Week 17 – Picks Revisited

Every Tuesday or Wednesday I will go over the previous week of games, with a note or two on the game. To see my picks with notes from the past week, click here!

Week 17 (Predicted Winners in Bold and Italicized) (If the pick has a line through it, then I incorrectly picked that team to win):

NYJ @ BUF – Sanchez surprisingly (ok, not really) threw a pick 6 and it was the Bills that came away with an easy victory.

CAR @ NO – The Saints defense was not able to contain the Panthers, and D-Will had a great day rushing for 210 yards and two touchdowns.

TB @ ATL – Falcons played most of their players and had three injuries to three key players. Oh, and they still lost.

NBA Power Rankings: Week 10

With another week in the books, here are the updated Power Rankings as we head into week 10. The Thunder and Wizards continue to bookend the rankings. The Raptors jumped up three spots this week and no team dropped back more than three spots in this week’s Power Rankings.

Power Rankings Week 10:

(W-L Season) followed by (W-L From previous week)

Ranking from previous week in parentheses.

(1). Oklahoma City Thunder (23-6) (2-1) – Thunder are still the best team in the league coming off a dominant performance against Harden in his new home in Houston.

(2). Los Angeles Clippers (25-6) (4-0) – 17 in a row sure is nice, however just four of those are against above .500 teams.

(3). San Antonio Spurs (24-8) (3-0) – It’s the healthiest they have been all season. Should continue to cruise.

(5). Miami Heat (20-8) (2-2) – Wade’s suspension hurt them by losing to the Pistons. Still should be the #1 in the East.

(4). New York Knicks (21-9) (1-2) – Is the loss of Felton that big for the Knicks?

NFL Week 17 – Picks

Every Sunday I will be making picks for each game of every week. With the last week in the NFL upcoming today, here are all of the 16 games being played today, with my picks.

Week 17 (Winners in Bold and Italicized):

NYJ @ BUF – The Jets are going back with Mark Sanchez after Mcleroy hurt himself last week. Both teams have nothing to play for, so I’ll go with the home team being able to make Sanchez more miserable.

CAR @ NO – A game which means little to the outside world, both teams likely trying to end season on the right note. Saints will play hard trying to get to .500 after their poor season.

TB @ ATL Falcons will likely be resting most of their players, and the Bucs will be playing most of their players. Why not go with the Bucs here?

CHI @ DET – The Bears really need this game, though I would not be surprised to see an upset here. Lions players may or may not play for the safety of their head coach though he may be out after this season regardless. I’ll go with the Bears.

PHI @ NYG – Vick could give the Giants defense, who has lacked a pass rush for the last few weeks, some big problems. However, Eli should play like the season is on the line today, and this win should give the Giants one last glimmer of the playoffs.

JAX @ TEN – Jaguars down to their 5th running back with Owens inactive. Likely would not have mattered. Titans are the better team but you never know.

BAL @ CIN – Both teams are virtually locked into their spots, so the Ravens will be sitting their key players. The Bengals are at home, should be playing their starters at least until the half.

CLE @ PIT – Browns will be without Weeden and Richardson and their isn’t much their for them to put up points. Steelers should win this one pretty easily.

HOU @ IND – Colts claim they will play their starters the whole game, but they probably won’t. Double that with the fact the Texans need this game for home-field throughout the playoffs, the Texans should win this one.

GB @ MIN – The Packers have something to play for which is delightful for Bears and Giants fans. AP will need to carry the Vikings and Ponder will need to step up big time today. However, Rodgers and the Packers will be playing for something and are the better team.

KC @ DEN  – Broncos need the win, Chiefs need the loss.

OAK @ SD – I wonder if the Chargers will be playing hard for the win to show their support for Turner. Or have they also had enough of his ridiculousness?

ARI @ SF – 49’ers should win this one pretty easily as they will be fighting for a chance at the two-seed.

STL @ SEA – I believe the Seahawks still have a chance at the two-seed. Home game for the Hawks should be another easy win.

MIA @ NE – Patriots will likely know where they stand before game-time, but still expect most of their starters to play.

DAL @ WSH – The biggest game of the day, will likely come all the way to the end of the game. Romo has been really good this month, and I expect him to lead his team to victory.

That wraps up the picks for week 17. I will update my (hopefully) above .500 record every Tuesday or Wednesday. Looking forward to having a great Sunday. Good luck to your hometown team, and as always, Go Texans!

NFL Power Rankings: Week 17

After another week in the NFL, the power rankings are updated as we head into the last week of the season.

Power Rankings Week 17:

Ranking from previous week in parentheses.

(2). Denver Broncos (12-3) – 10 straight victories led by MVP candidate, Peyton Manning, and DPOY candidate, Von Miller.

2 (4). New England Patriots (12-3) – Offense has been struggling a bit the last few games, but I’m not worried at all.

3 (1). Houston Texans (12-3) – Didn’t show any caring last week, and they really need a sharp game if they want home-field throughout the playoffs.

(5). Atlanta Falcons (13-2) – Their offense has been clicking at the right time, and they need it to be clicking like this in January as well.

(3). San Francisco 49′ers (10-4-1) – Kaepernick’s first poor game, came at a bad time against their division rivals. They need to win to stay atop the NFC West. Read the rest of this entry

NFL Week 16 – Picks Revisited

Every Tuesday or Wednesday I will go over the previous week of games, with a note or two on the game. To see my picks with notes from the past week, click here!

Week 16 (Predicted Winners in Bold and Italicized) (If the pick has a line through it, then I incorrectly picked that team to win):

ATL @ DET – Falcons went up big, but Lions made somewhat of a comeback, but in a move that defines their season, Logan kneeled at the 4-yard line on a kickoff to secure the loss.

CIN @ PIT – Not the effort I expected to see from the Steelers with their playoff hopes on the line. Big Ben threw a late pick, to set up Josh Brown’s game-winning FG, and the Bengals will be in the playoffs.

BUF @ MIA – Tannehill managed the game well enough throwing for 130 yards and two touchdowns. Read the rest of this entry
