NFL Week 16 – Picks Revisited
Every Tuesday or Wednesday I will go over the previous week of games, with a note or two on the game. To see my picks with notes from the past week, click here!
Week 16 (Predicted Winners in Bold and Italicized) (If the pick has a line through it, then I incorrectly picked that team to win):
ATL @ DET – Falcons went up big, but Lions made somewhat of a comeback, but in a move that defines their season, Logan kneeled at the 4-yard line on a kickoff to secure the loss.
PIT – Not the effort I expected to see from the Steelers with their playoff hopes on the line. Big Ben threw a late pick, to set up Josh Brown’s game-winning FG, and the Bengals will be in the playoffs.
BUF @ MIA – Tannehill managed the game well enough throwing for 130 yards and two touchdowns.
OAK @ CAR – Pretty boring game though Shane Lechler did a great job punting four balls inside the 20. Yep, it’s that bad in Raider land.
TEN @ GB – My prediction before the game -“I should probably make a long explanation about how the Packers will win, but I’ll keep it short. They will win.” — I should have kept it much shorter.
IND @ KC – It was closer then expected but a late TD to Reggie Wayne sealed their playoff spot in a surprising year for the Colts. Andrew Luck also broke the passing yards record for rookie quarterbacks.
NE @ JAX – Early on it looked like the Jags might upset the Patriots who came in playing like they did against the 49’ers, but Brady was able to start hitting his targets throwing for 261 two td’s and two picks.
WSH @ PHI – Nick Foles and the Eagles had a chance to steal this one from the Redskins, but Foles missed Maclin wide open in the end zone and they came up short on their final drive.
SD @ NYJ – It seems like Jeremy Kerley is the best QB on the roster. Heck, he may have been the best Qb on the field, though Rivers had a solid game throwing for 165 and two td’s
TB – Freeman threw another four picks as his roller coaster season continues. Martin struggled for another week, and the Rams were able to go on the road and beat the Bucs.
HOU – The Vikings did everything the Texans wanted to do in this game. They won the time of possession battle and converted on 3rd downs. Texans did well containing AP, but struggled to muster up anything on offense.
DAL – Romo led a great comeback down 14 in the 4th, but he came up empt on the first drive in OT, and Brees led his team (with the help of Graham’s fumble recovery), to a game-winning FG.
CLE @ DEN – Manning continued his NFL-like season throwing for 339 three Td’s and one pick. Weeden got hurt in the game, and McCoy looked solid in his first game action in a long time.
CHI @ ARZ – Cardinals only score was on a blocked FG. Lindley got benched for Hoyer, who didn’t play too well either. Bears defense had two scores, and their offense did enough to secure the win.
NYG @ BAL – Oh well, I didn’t want to choose either team, but I ended up choosing the wrong one. Eli chose a bad time to suck for a second consecutive week, as Flacco and the Ravens looked good.
SF @ SEA – After coming off a great road win in New England, the 49’ers couldn’t muster up anything against the Seahawks. Wilson continues his dominant rookie campaign as the defense and the 12-man stepped up big time, as the Hawks went on to win big.
Overall Week 16 Record: 11-5
Overall Season Record: 153-86-1
Power Rankings for Week 17 will be up before game time on Thursday.
