NFL Week 15 – Picks
Every Sunday I will be making picks for each game of every week. The game that occurs before that Sunday will be picked in the previous article of updated power rankings each week. This past Thursday I correctly picked the bengals to defeat the Eagles. Here are the rest of my picks for Week 15:
Week 15 (Winners in Bold and Italicized):
JAX @ MIA – One of the few games that has almost no significance anymore for this season, the Jags are coming off a home-loss to the Jets. The Dolphins have to know what Chad Henne brings to the table, which should help them out.
WSH @ CLE – Huge game for both teams. Browns coming in with a 3 game winning streak and need HUGE help for any shot at the playoffs. Redskins are in the middle of a race for the NFC East as well as a wild-card spot. NO RG3 will make things interesting, but Cousins has played well last week.
GB @ CHI – Earlier in the season the Packers were more healthy and so were the Bears when the Packers won in GB. Things are different and this game has a lot of implications in the NFC playoff chase. Packers offense should have little problem with the Urlacher-less Bears defense.
DEN @ BAL – Probably the game of the day, at least for the daytime hours. Both teams need this win badly in the chase for a bye in the AFC. Broncos first real test in a while, and the Ravens are usually better at home. I think the Broncos win this game, as I don’t trust Flacco to make plays or the Ravens to be able to stop Manning.
MIN @ STL – If the Vikings want to have a legit shot at the wild-card they NEED to win this game. After I wrote them off last week assuming a loss to the Bears, they now have a shot. Peterson will need to have a MONSTER game this week if the Vikes want to win.
NYG @ ATL – These two teams I love picking against because I just don’t trust them enough like others. Well they are playing each other so this one is tough. If the Falcons want to prove they can play with the best of the NFC, they need to win this one. I think they will play very tough in their home and be able to beat the Giants.
TB @ NO – Bucs lost a huge game last week and really need to take this one. Saints are virtually done for the year, but I don’t think that stop them from playing tough. Saints [assign game vs. the leagues worst secondary will give the Saints a big edge. I expect a big bounce back game from Brees after a few rough weeks.
IND @ HOU – Colts likely to make the playoffs regardless. Texans arguably need this game more than the Colts as they look to lock up home-field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs. I expect the Texans to bounce back with force after their embarrassing loss against the Patriots just six days ago.
DET @ ARZ – I wonder if Detroit could hang 42 points on them that would be kind of cool. Cardinals are terrible; Lions are a bit better than their record. I expect this game to be a blowout.
CAR @ SD – Panthers are playing good football right now, yet it would be so Panther-like for them not to show up today. Charger fans don’t show up to their games, so not much home-field advantage in this game.
SEA @ BUF – The Seahawks are a totally different team on the road, but then again they are playing the Bills. Seahawks need this game a lot and could take a big step in the NFC West with some help this week.
KC @ OAK – Ummm…I am pretty sure no one will be watching this game. Not Chiefs fans that would rather follow the Royals moves in the offseason, nor the Raider fans who would probably rather watch other football. I’ll take the home team.
PIT @ DAL – So the Steelers have surprising win against Ravens in BAL with Batch, then lose to Chargers at Heinz Field with Big Ben. Don’t know which Steelers team we see. Regardless, Cowboys need this game badly, and have momentum entering the game.
SF @ NE – The Texans fan in me really wants to pick the 49’ers in an “upset” of some sort. The Patriots at home again against a warm weather team. This should be a great game, but Brady in December is money.
NYJ @ TEN – Both teams were supposed to be in playoff hunts at this time of the year, hence why they are on MNF this week. Depending on what happens earlier in the day, the Jets really need this one. I prefer the Titans at home with a solid offense and a good enough front seven to stop the Jets only offense, which is handing off the ball to Greene/Powell.
That wraps up the picks for week 15. I will update my (hopefully) above .500 record every Tuesday or Wednesday. Looking forward to having a great Sunday. Good luck to your hometown team, and as always, Go Texans!
