NFL Power Rankings: Week 15

After another week in the NFL, the power rankings are updated as we head into week 15.

Power Rankings Week 15:

Ranking from previous week in parentheses.

1 (3). New England Patriots (10-3) – Patriots are coming off their biggest win of the year, and have another huge game against the 49’ers in a possible Super Bowl preview.

2 (1). Houston Texans (11-2) – Tough loss on MNF, but they know what is ahead of them. They control their own destiny and need home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.

(4). Denver Broncos (10-3) – The Broncos only losses are against the #1, #2, and #4 teams in the Power Rankings. A hell of a football team, with a great offense and defense.

4 (2). Atlanta Falcons (11-2) – The Falcons have found ways to win football games, but they have just squeaked out some wins this year. They need to get hot soon, as when it comes playoff time, it’s whichever team is the hottest in January.

(5). San Francisco 49′ers (9-3-1) – Huge game coming up this week against the Patriots. They need this win to severely help their chances for a 1st round bye. It will be interesting to see how Kaepernick plays in his biggest game up-to-date.

6 (6). Green Bay Packers (9-4) – The Packers could have easily run away with the division right now if the replacement official fiasco had not occurred. Instead, they have to go into Chicago and win to pretty much win the division.

7 (7). Baltimore Ravens (10-3) – The Ravens are clearly the 4th team in the AFC. Flacco has not taken that big step this year, and their defense is severely banged up. They need this win against the Broncos badly to help their chances for a 1st round bye.

(10). New York Giants (8-5) – The G-Men are starting to get hot at the right time, which has worked for them in the past. They have the Skins and Cowboys right on their tails, and need to keep winning to stay atop the NFC East.

9 (11). Seattle Seahawks (8-5) – The 12th man makes a huge difference for the Seahawks. Granted they probably still would have beaten the Cardinals last week, but 58-0? Probably not. They still have a shot at the division if they can beat the Bills on the road this week.

10 (10). Indianapolis Colts (9-4) – Many people are screaming for Luck to be R.O.Y but I just don’t see it. He has led several 4th quarter numbers, but his 4th quarter stats aren’t really eye shattering. They end the year with two out of three against the Texans.

11 (8). Chicago Bears (8-5) – The Bears are reeling and not at a good time. They are just 1 game out of the division, but also 1 game out of missing the playoffs. They really need to win at least two out of their last three games.

12 (13). Washington Redskins (7-6) – It looks like the Skins have escaped a major injury to RG3. They need to keep winning for a shot at the playoffs.

13 (13). Cincinnati Bengals (7-6) – An upsetting loss last week after having control most of the game. They need to go into Philly and play like their playoff hopes are on the line.

14 (17). Minnesota Vikings (7-6) – The Vikings saved their season with a win against the Bears. They still have a shot at the playoffs but they must win this week on the road against the Rams.

15 (18). Dallas Cowboys (7-6)  – The Cowboys saved their season with a late W in Cincy. It looks like they survived a scare with reports Dez might be out for the year.

16 (14). Pittsburgh Steelers (7-6) – How the Steelers can go from beating the Ravens in Baltimore with Charlie Batch as the QB, all the way to losing to the Chargers at Heinz Field is absolutely mind-boggling.

17 (16). Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6-7) – With the playoffs in their sight, the Bucs choked big time after allowing the Eagles to make a huge comeback. They now need lots of help if they want to make the playoffs.

18 (15). New Orleans Saints (5-8) – Saints got some good news too late in the season after the news that all suspensions to players will be taken away. It’s too bad the season is pretty much over for the Saints.

19 (22). New York Jets (6-7) – Somehow, this pathetic team still has a shot at the playoffs. Granted they need a lot of help to make it, if they win-out, we may see the Jets in the playoffs.

20 (19). Miami Dolphins (5-8) – The Dolphins had a good run this year and will look back at all the “what if’s” of their year.

21 (23). St. Louis Rams (5-7-1) – If only the Rams were able to play the 49’ers all 16 games, they may be 8-0-8. Wouldn’t that be cool?

22 (24). San Diego Chargers (5-8) – The Chargers find themselves with an outside shot at the playoffs. They helped their playoff odds with a huge win in Pittsburgh.

23 (25). Cleveland Browns (5-8) – The Browns are riding a 3-game winning streak, which is probably not a good idea for a team that needs more high picks.

24 (20). Detroit Lions (4-9) – The Lions are done for the year now, and are disappointed by their outcome this season. A high-pick however would be really nice to add to this already talented roster.

25 (29). Carolina Panthers (4-9) – See the Lions.

26 (21). Buffalo Bills (5-8) – The Bills had a shot at the playoffs go away after a terrible loss to the Rams. They need more playmakers on defense, and they need to give the ball to Spiller a lot more next year.

27 (28). Philadelphia Eagles (4-9) – The Eagles as a team may be happy that they won, but fans would probably prefer to see a high pick. On the bright side, Foles looked pretty good this week.

28 (26). Tennessee Titans (4-9) – It seems like Chris Johnson had more success with Hasselbeck under center, rather than Locker.

29 (27). Arizona Cardinals (4-9) – 9 game losing streak for these Cardinals. This same team somehow beat the Patriots earlier this year. Welcome to the NFL.

30 (30). Oakland Raiders (3-10) – So Palmer cost them a 1st rounder last year and a 2nd rounder this year. Another reason the Raiders are the Raiders.

31 (31). Jacksonville Jaguars (2-11) – It looked like they could make a run with the last few games, but the loss to the Jets makes it look unlikely.

32 (32). Kansas City Chiefs (2-11) – Dwayne Bowe is now on the I.R. after it seemed like the whole

Thursday Night Game of the Week:

Bengals coming off an upsetting loss, and the Eagles coming off a comeback win. Home teams are 8-4 on Thursday nights, but the Bengals have a lot to play for tonight. They need this “gimme” and they should get it.

Prediction:            Bengals 31 Eagles 20
