NFL Week 1 – Picks Revisited

Every Tuesday I will go over the previous week of games, with a note or two on the game. To see my picks for this week, click here:

Week 1 (Predicted Winners in Bold and Italicized):

BUF @ NYJ – Was flat out wrong here. NYJ offense looked pretty good, and the defense of the Bills, and Mario did not play so well (though Mario was complaining about missed calls on Austin Howard).

IND @ CHI – Cutler and the offense looked really good. Luck didn’t have a great debut, but had some promising plays.

STL @ DET – Detroit did not run away early, and needed a last second TD to Kevin Smith, to avoid the week 1 upset.

MIA @ HOU – Texans defense had a pretty good game, and J.J. Watt continues to show he is one of the best DE’s in the game.

JAX @ MIN – Minnesota let the lead go late, but their rookie kicker knocked in a game-tying FG to send it to OT. Then he knocked in the game-winner as the Vikings moved to 1-0.

PHI @ CLE – Eagles looked awful, but Weeden was worse. Give credit to CLE defense, as they played very well. Eagles sneak out of CLE with a victory and avoid the upset.

NE @ TEN – Patriots offense looked great, and they won pretty easily.

WSH @ NO – RGIII looked awesome, as the Redskins went into the Metrodome and shocked America.

ATL @ KC – KC Defense struggled to contain Julio Jones and the Falcons offense. Falcons won easily.

SEA @ ARZ – Kolb led the Cardinals to game winning drive when Skelton got hurt. Wilson played well, but the SEA WR’s did not help him at all.

CAR @ TB – Newton struggled, and Tampa Bay wins a big opening game.

SF @ GB – The 49’ers showed their Super Bowl hype as they beat the Packers. 49’ers looked really impressive.

PIT @ DEN – Manning looked like Manning, and a Tracy Porter pick-6 sealed the Broncos win.

CIN @ BAL – Dalton might be a little overrated from his strong play vs. weak teams last year. Flacco and the offense seemed to have no trouble scoring, and Lewis, Reed, and the defense were all over Dalton and the Bengals.

SD @ OAK – McFadden was the only bright spot for the Raiders and Palmer played solid but not enough to beat the Chargers. Chargers only scored 1 TD in 4 redzone tries. Oakland suffered from poor special teams play, and lost by 8.

Overall Week 1 Record: 11-5.

Power Rankings for Week 2 will be up before game time on Thursday.
